Panama City is the Jewel in Central America
Obviously, a brief summary of Panama would not be complete without a mention of Panama City. This vibrant metropolis is an exciting modern city, often described as the ‘Miami’ or ‘Dubai’ of Central America. Its uber modern skyscrapers fill the skyline with a mixture of stunning architecture and artistic towers.
Yet, it has another side to it – Casco Viejo. The historic, colonial, old town is tucked away on the other side of the city but in eye view of the floor to ceiling windows of its modern neighbour. This picturesque old town is brimming with its own colour and character. Full of historical architecture, its narrow roads are lined with lovely restaurants and cafes.
Casco Viejo is also known for its nightlife in Panama City and is home to some amazing rooftop bars and restaurants. Live music is often heard in this area and the Panamanians love to dance!
Costa del Este is a little further out along the coast but is a new and very upcoming metropolis. Its palm lined roads, upmarket shopping malls and luxury housing are attracting a new wealthy crowd.
